Hey my buddy has an 02 f4i and it runs like crap. When giving it WOT oraccelerating fastit sputters real bad and backfires and sometimes it will shut off. When this happens the FI light will come on but not always. I think it is a fuel problem? We also tried getting the code but its not throwing any error codes. Checked the spark plugs and there all good. Also check the connection at battery and thats also good. Anyone have any ideas whats wrong?

how many miles? what mods?
you check air filter too?
do the simple stuff first.

 

has like 8k miles on the cluster. no mods pretty much stock, were gonna stunt it out. Check filter already looks good. Were kinda leaning towards bad fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator? But dont wanna waste money on those parts if it doesnt fix it.

 

yup yup yup...i'd focus on the fuel...air/spark ruled out...

has the bike been parked for a long time?

It might be old gas in the tank, i had a problem starting and running a gsxr that has been sitting for 4-5 month, but as soon as i emptied the gas tank and put new fuel in there it was perfect.

 

Yea we already put new gas in it. like it will idle fine and stuff but once u ride it and get on it seems like its not getting enough fuel.
