yet another problem woo
So as you knowvif you follow these tech forums I've been working on my Honda CBR 600 well I fixed the charging system problem by buying a new regulator rectifier and reconnecting all the connections from the male part of the wiring so I turn on the bike test the battery to make sure its charging around 14 .5 vol. got about 14.4 at 3000 rpm so now the battery is charging so I go inside to grab a sweatshirt while I let the bike idle and I come back out to coolant draining from the overflow tube and the temp gauge running red hot and the radiator was smoking and not sure if a fan was running. never has it overheated before and I've been running it for about a month now I'm messing around up and down the street and all of the Sudden the overheating came from nowhere I'm at a loss I don't even know where to look the coolant reservoir tank is completely empty that's all over the floor still seems to have coolant in the hose though coming from the radiator when I give it to squeeze any help whatsoever would be awesome let me know guys

So last night I let the bike cool off turned it on and took it out for a 45 minute ride. The temp meter stayed stable in the middle the fan kicked on at proper times and didn't overheat at all. I'm going to refill the reservoir tank with coolant and top off the radiator. No clue why it overflowed by just idling for 20 minutes.

+1 to wheelnut, 20 mins is way too long for a bike to idle on it's own, the fsn is there just to aid in red lights and so forth, it's less than half the diameter of a car fan and is not even designed to keep the bike cool on it's own for long times. Specially if it's warm there and the system seems to be working now, just top it off and be done with it. If the reservoir seems dirty it might be a good idea to take the radiator out and rinse it thoroughly backwards to get any loose crap out.

As was alluded to above, clean the system... doing a flush of the coolant system before you top things off would be a good idea, especially if you haven't done it before... and of course, discard the old coolant and refill with new coolant/H2O mix.
