Default temp gauge issue

ok gotta good one ...the temp gauge on my 94 f2 is acting erratic...as long as i am on the throttle temp seems fine ..when i let off the throttle it goes to near red... this is when the bike is warm ...if i give it gas drops to a normal temp ... im beggining to think this bike is a lemon...that seems really weird to me ...you can watch the temp gauge drop as soon as you give it throttle...it has been hot here the past couple of days ..i just cant imagine the gauge being that sensative to the throttle ..does the water pump have that much of an effect on things considering it does run on the the engine rpm ..just let it idle for a bit in the driveway fan does turn on and off like it should ..does all of this sound normal to you all?any info would be great thanks

No, that does not sound normal. Maybe the guage is effed UP. If you think the guage is right, try flushing the whole cooling system. Check the thermostat.
