temp gauge

Default temp gauge

hello all,
how hot does your temp gauge usually read when at a stand still? bought my first bike used and not really sure what to expect. Thanks

I've seen mine up around 228. I don't know how hot is too hot though. It should say in the manual though.

well the fan should kick on at like 220 I think, Normally if I set anywhere for a while I just shut the bike off

Just make sure you have sufficient coolant and Oil is good.
Ive had it up to like 236 I think , I cant quite remember though.

when im sitting at a light mine will creep up to around 226 degrees. i guess thats normal from what im told.

yea mang...high way flying is like 180 and when you start hitting traffic and stop and go will go to like 222...and stopped at traffic will go higher but fan should kick on by 225-228. i think the fan switch is actually set for like 220, but there is a lag from what the fan trigger sensor reads, which is in the radiator, vs. what the temp guage says, which is near the core.

also, if you have lots of gunk and old coolant and build up in the lines, then the bike will run hotter or get hot quicker. frequent flushing will help prevent this.
