Default Starting and running problems

My 93 is causing some problems that I can't figure out so I've come to the masters for help! (smile) This just started happening today- I went for a ride got a mile from my house came to a stop sign and the bike shut off. Tried to start it again and the battery was dead. So I pulled off and tried it again still wouldn't start. I waited awhile longer and finally got it going. It was like the longer I waited the more volts the battery had, which makes me believe that I have charging issues. I read a couple stickies on the site and read some of my trouble shooting manual and tried a couple different things. When I had it running I just sat there with my volt meter on the battery and watched it at idle for awhile stayed the same, then started increasing rpm's and the volts went up to 14 I think. I was thinking it was my r/r, but it had readings that were managable and also the wires weren't burnt or anything. I also checked the main fuse (30a) that was good. I got it running again rode it around a little bit came back right when I came to a stop the bike died again. What could that be from?

Thanks for any advice!
