Default RE: possible CCT noise?

just bought an F2 and if i rev it, at the bottom end and before the revs climb there is a noticeable rattle which goes as the revs climb. not too sure if it could be the CTT or not, dont want to go down the road of replacing it if its not that, the bike has done nearly 48,000 so suspect it hasn't been changed for a while.

if it is this then would it need to get a lot more noticeable/worse before serious damage occurs?

thanks for any replys guys

Gavin

That is a manual tensoner which i highly recommend over a oem hydraulic one. When ine was rattling it was from topend by the head and it went away when the revvs got higher. I think you have bearing issues

If your bike has the same looking tensioner as a manual one then you could tighten a little to see if it helps. Pointless to buy the same one since its made to manually be adjusted

Sorry when I said bottom end, I meant bottom end of the rev range.
It sounds like two rattles really, a little bit of a rattle as I said when it's idleing, and I rev it, just at the point where the revs would increase there's a bit of a rattle which may be the bearings??? If so is this a major issue?
The other is once it's warm, and around 3k revs it's the same can of ball bearings sound as most cct videos online. And that sounds around the top right side of the engine
Ape manual ordered should be here in next day or so, will update again once fitted.

Ok i think your good thats the cam chain slapping around. When you install it hand tighten it and use a wrench and tighten another quarter turn. Start thw bike and slowly back it out till you hear the noise again. Once you hear it tighten it till it goes away and lock it down. That way its not too tight

Changes cct, did the slack off till noise then tighten only just until the rattle went then 1/4 turn and lock off, there still seems a little whine but there's no invetween, is the whine just the engine as if I loosen it to iradicate the whine it's straight into the rattle.

Both my honda hurricane and f2 had bad tensioners when i got them. They both had a lil whine after. So i dont know if its supposed to siund like that or not. My guess is the cam chain guides could be worn from the chain slapping around. Or who knows maybethe motor just sounds like that. I woukdnt worry about it. I rode the hurricane for 5 years like that and this will be the 3rd season with the f2 sounding the same. No problems
