Where the hell did you get this idea?
Alright, Jess; there's no need for all that. I'm just saying that for most people's purposes, the difference is negligible. I've only ever owned carbed bikes--every one of which with a slip-on exhaust--and I've never rejetted any of them (nor have I ever burnt a single valve, or suffered on power, either) and I tend to ride pretty hard (for the street, anyway).

Try rejetting one of those bikes man, then you'll see what I'm talking about! It's kind of like "the best suspension you know is the best suspension you've ridden", only in this case it's that you haven't re-jetted a bike to see just what you're missing! Trust me it's a fair bit!

Try hitting a dyno if you can and getting some A/F readings. From what I've seen of dyno work, most people are running dangerously lean and don't know it.

Just an exhaust alone though shouldn't burn up valves though, unless it's some gnarly GP exhaust or some straight pipe crap.

the reason u spend decent change on an exhaust is because with the more expensive ones (not limited to however) they dyno and test the very bikes they go on, to refine them and get more power, better sound n such....that is how they get maps for them after all..and they assuredly dyno them with a stock map as well for base comparison's, so you would know if your gonna run lean and need to remap...as for no power gains on stock maps...(cant speak for carbs, only FI) Hyper Flo claims 2hp gains with no remapping, and have the dyno sheet to prove it, that being said...you wouldnt put a turbo on a car, and then boost it at 2psi right? so y put an exhaust on a bike without re-jetting or re-mapping?
