I think its more I was trying to start it with no airbox on and it just couldn't get a rich enough mixture (and I didn't wanna try starter fluid lest it backfired)

nothing. its all back together, definitely rich enough, it puffs a few times, I know its getting spark (bright sparks too) then it'll just backfire (very loudly, I started wearing earplugs)

but still no life

any other ideas? I just cleaned the carbs last week

all the plugs are good? You are starting the bike while using the choke correct? are the carbs sync'ed? Does gas flow from the petcock to the carbs?

yes, full choke baby, probably not, but the look fine (and I've never seen a bad sync keep a bike from starting), using a secondary tank.

I'm really stumped, I can smell raw gas when I'm starting it, and I've checked all the plugs and they're bright, I've gone over the plug wires and coil wires twice.

it USED TO RUN... thats the most mind boggling part.

so, I ripped the carbs out again, and was cranking it with just the runners open...

and I CAN SEE A SPARK, THRU THE OPEN INTAKE VALVES ON CYL 3

WTF?!
