Bike stranded me at work.
You mentioned that it rained shortly before you came out and fired it up. water vapor and damp conditions are one of the #1 causes for bugs to come suddenly and be gone the next day without showing there selfs when diagnosing the issue at hand. heres an example, I bought and restored an 85 650 nighthawk last winter for the wife, got the carbs jus about perfect, fesh paint for the frame u know, all the goods. When the weather broke i put a quik 3-400 miles on it to shake everything down and then cut the wife loose. the bike was without a mechalical flaw, but one day she rode to work came out and fired up the bike and it to had rained . bike seemed to be fine untile she went to roll out and it stalled. it fired firte back up but she said it was'nt rite. by the time i got it home and got it off the trailer it ran like nothing was ever wrong. the wires on the coils had gotten wet causing them, or one of them to ground out and drop cylinders 1-4. to this day i make sure every conection there is is pcked with dielectric gease and have never had any probs since. give it a try.
