I just looked at a 2003 with 43XX miles. The bike is in emaculate condition, almost showroom-like. The seller has been trying to get rid of it for the past 2-3 months to pay for some bills. He is the second owner and says that he only put about 500 miles on the bike and that it was bought by him from a friend. I test road it and saw/heard/felt no problems, it handled like a 600 with the power of a 1000. He is asking 4200 and he seemed like a stand-up guy. I got burnt on my first bike that I bought from a private seller because I didn't take it for a proper test ride. 4th and 5th gear were missing teeth, tranny rebuilt = $1200 more dollars. My questions are: Does the price seem shady and are there any common problems with the 954's that I should look for? Thanks for the help.
