Default shifting problem

i went to the speedway to run a few 1/4 mile passes last night for the first time and something disturbing happened to me. i was cruising along and when i go to shift from 2nd to 3rd it seemed near impossible. i did 5 passes and never had a trouble free shift. it goes from 1st to 2nd real easy but when its time to go to 3rd i pull in the clutch and try to kick it into 3rd and nothin happens, im still in second. any ideas why my bike wont go into 3rd at hi rpms but will at low rpms?

Default RE: shifting problem

alpinestarz, I have been the same problem with my 954 at the track. After checking absolutely everything that could be replaced, I found out that the clutch itself is slipping under power. Do you have any power adders on the bike, built motor, etc? If this is the case, you can do a few things to help. 1 is to change out your springs for heavier Barrett springs. 2 would be to shim the springs with washers to increase pressure from the springs. If you don't have power adders, you may want to check your plates and make sure none of them are burnt. But if I were you I would check my clutch plates first thing before looking at anything else.
