Default Self repairing motorcycle?

2002 954 w/K&N and Enrion exhaust. I was at highway speed and on a top gear roll on towards high speed. Around 137 I got a red light. Kept riding, later checked and got code 35. Learned wasn't fatal so rode some more. Filled up w/super. At some point later light stayed off. In the near future did another top gear roll on - got red light. Later filled with super, light went off soon after. Kept up with super, no more problems. I got 21k+ with no valve adjustment. Recent roll ons to up to 145, no problems. Likely gas? Gas mileage decreased when tried regular (manual said was OK so tried to save some $). Probably should get valves adjusted? I think I got it figured out but thought I'd ask for feedback.

Got it figured out huh? The code is for your EGCV unit. I would fix that. Maybe work on what the code says to fix first? The reason it is sending a code with the roll on is because the EGCV motor is trying to acuate the cables during the roll on. Look in your manual as it tells you what to do to check the motor and go from there.

Here is the unit

Or you can just check the valves since you got it figured out already. Next time just ask for help don't tell me you have it figured out you were "just checking for feedback"

Can you explain why the code went away? I thought it was related to the octane of gas and possibly the valves not having been adjusted. What is your explanation?

The code went away after you shut it off or after the EGCV unit stopped trying to actuate the cables. The EGCV unit moves the cables that hook to your exhaust. It isn't constantly moving them. When it tried it failed for whatever reason and threw the alarm. I would check the motor, check the cables, and make sure the drum in your exhaust is free moving. Some guys wire it open. I had it working properly on one 954 and not on another one didn't notice any huge advantage. It isn't a big deal really and I would work on it when you have time but ride without worry untill then.
