Default repairing plastics

Since alot of you guys do your own work, what do you recommend . Especially for strength and managability while repairing boo boos. Even as far as fumes go if I do it in my basement with kids home. All replies appreciated.

Plastic Weld from Permatex or similar. There's a thread about it somewhere if you want another couple of people's opinion.
I've repaired cracked fairings including a broken off fairing support stud. Fumes are a little bit of a problem, but not prohibitive
