Default New to the site would like to ask a question

whats up guys im looking into buying my first CBR954RR which im going to see on saturday! the guy who is selling it told me the only thing wrong with the bike is that it will need a new CCTL. Ive been doing my research on this and found out that theres a manual and OEM replacement. ive been thinking of going with the OEM and been reading that honda has been putting different colors dots on the OEM part to tell apart which ones are the newer version. my question is does anybody know what color dots are the newest version of the OEM CCTL? if any.....thanks in advance guys

Haven't heard anything about a colored dot, but getting that thing out is a bitch! I had to remove the motor mount bolts and lower it a couple of inches.

haha, it's a knuckle buster for sure! (not to mention it takes about a thousand turns on 8mm wrench... if you don't lower the motor) pivoting the motor on a jack is MUCH better.

i went with a manual one, and so far i love it. and damn is it pretty.

How did you set your manual tensioner? Just by ear at idle?I just had to use the pancake bunny!

But won't the manual one kind of mess the cam chain up if the cam chain needs different amounts of tension depending on the rpm the bike is at? The manual will give the same amount of tension where the automatic OEM one will give different amounts of tension

you have the tighten-nut really far up, and the you screw it in til you feel it hit the guide, then back off a quarter-to-half of a turn. tighten locking nut. done.

loctite is a plus if you have blue (med)
