hows about any sprocket but vortex. ive heard a lot of complaints about them. had them myself and will never buy again. unless your Racer X that can get his lap times w/in a few miliseconds or 1/4 times consistant every run you prolly wont ever tell the difference in alum and steel rear sprockets. except the fact youll be replacing them and the chain every 5-10k miles.
p.s. the front sprocket on mine was wearing out very fast as well. it too was vortex.
i put a driven steel rear on my 929 jsut recently so i have yet to see how it holds up.

i had 8k i believe before my rear sprocket went out and my front was still in good condition, but i replaced both and the chain.. yes they are ALUMINUM so they wear out faster.. they do not suck.. they dont break.... they dont cause any harm they are just different ... also.. chain and sprockets wear out faster due to misalignment and alot of other things.. so maybe it was your fault also..

my buddy had a vortex rear on his bike and befoer going to the dragstrip it looked ok, started to show signs of wear but nothing to be alarmed about. we rode to the strip and back home bout 100 miles each way. took1 pass down the strip(first time there). he had 6 teeth missing on the rear when he got home. that was on his old fzr600.
im not a firm beliver on the alum rear sprocket. if you want less unsprung weight, dont eat that double cheese burger for lunch.
ps i check my chain routinely for slack adjustment and keep it well waxed. after trowing the chain through the case on my dads old tl1000s. i make sure i got good chain and sprockets. to expensive to do that again. luckily i was almost home, coasted in the driveway put it on the kick stand and watched all the oil driain on the ground. that feeling about makes ya wanna puke.
