Ignition Advance Rotor with PC3?
I want to buy one of the Factory Pro +4 ignition advance rotors. My question is should I get the advance rotor since I already have a PC3? Is the advance rotor only for bikes without a PC3 or can they be used in conjunction with one another? My "hp" mods thus far are a full Erion Racing system, BMR race air filter, and the flapper removed. I plan on sanding down the inside of the airbox to smooth it out, wrapping it with head shielding, removing the air snorkles, installing a set of Factory Pro short velocity stacks, a +4 ignition advance rotor, wrapping the exhaust, and then having it dyno tuned. I want to gain the most hp possible with bolt-on's without having to go internal.......which will prob happen later on down the road. I also plan on going with a 520 -1/+2 steel conversion, shorty levers, rebuilt front forks, etc. but I'm primarily speaking about hp right now. Thoughts and/or advice welcome.
I would stay away from the +4 ignition advancer. This is something you rarely hear of anyone doing to a 929/954. Maybe add the ignition module to your PC3 or find a PC3r and have it tuned by a professional. You run the risk of major damage to your engine by having the +4 throughout the entire rpm range.
Ok, so now I'm not sure if I have a PC3 or PC3r....is there any way to tell from looking at it? Mine was on the bike when I got it and I didn't know there was a difference. Mine is the serial port version but I'm not near my bike so that I can look at it.
From what I was reading on it, it seems like the advance rotor is for people who don't have or can't afford a power commander. Its the cheap way of altering the ignition without adding a PC3r or PC3/5usb with ignition module. I'll just have everything tuned once it hits the dyno. I'm going to have two maps built for it, one for max hp, and then another for rideability.
