it doesn't matter how many degrees as the part has an allowance. but were you given a reason why you should get an ignition advance?

i am all for performance upgrades, but if your bike is having persistant problems, those will need to be fixed first. the advancer may need rejetting if that hasn't been done yet. you will want to make sure that your motor and fueling is well sorted before putting new parts in. it's bad enough to diagnose problems, but then throwing in something new at times really gives you headaches.

if the rotor is for 89, i think it is 4 degrees, it seems only the 87-88 had options. you may have to drop factory pro an email and ask what options they have and what would be good for you.

+1 I think the FactoryPro one is 4 degrees. They spent a lot of time deciding how much advance to give it, so I'd go with what they tell you.

I also agree that If you're going to do an ignition advance you need to make sure your bike is running great before you do it. When the further you advance your ignition, the hotter the bike will run, and you might have to use Race Gas, because 91 won't do it. The bike will run, but you run a big risk of detonation under load and your engine will be absolute toast if you run it like that for very long. You may have to re-jet, as someone already mentioned.

Just be careful, is all I'm saying.
