one other thing, absolutely do not put a 30amp fuse in the FI spot. i got my problem fixed, had a 30 amp in, fried the whole harness. so, now a new harness, bunch of fuses, new kill/start switch, sums up to a friday night full of hopes and prayers.

Alright, UPdate. I have fixed my Problem(i hope, will find out for sure on friday) What i had was an open circuit in the loop that i mentioned before. The open circuit was in the start/kill switch, one of the wires had dissconnected from the point it was soderd to. and that was blowing the FI fuse immediately. But it took me over a week to check that because i was stupid and didnt want to have to readjust my trottle(dumb move on my part). So in the week of searching i found some more stuff that could have potentially been the problem. SO... Your problem could be the same as mine, and it might only be happening like say when comming down from a whillie because that bounces the wire just enough to short with one of the othe wires(they are very close together and only coverd with some enamel paint or something like that) or shorting with the metal bars which are a ground. Not for sure, I have more to say but i have to go to class at the moment, going to be late, will be back on tonight, but get your bike out of the shop asap! also if you have aol instant messanger or something like that let me know so we can carry a conversation sometime, i tend to have a good idea and forget it within an hour.
So thats what it was huh? My bike is finished, just waiting to be picked up. I'll go get it on Saturday morning. Hopefully I can make it home to get the start switch apart and check it. Thanks for all the useful info. Id like to chat about it, but Im in Hawaii, and we are 6 hours behind EST. I wouldnt wanna keep you up. But lemme know if you find anything else. I surely needsome help in testing with circuits.

Hit us up with a post when you get back on saturday, Hopefully you come back on two wheels and not in a truck, got my fingers crossed for you. If you do want to chat some time, I am in college, i dont sleep. usually go to bed 5 or 6am and up by 8am for classes. no time for sleep when you have bikes, school, girls and parties all to fit into the schedule, specially with spring rolling quickly. good luck!

Dont cross the fingers yet. Al lthey did was change the reg/rec. I only let em do it because it was already there, and worth a try. I do realize that im about to waste $380, but its all good. I dont care, I just want it fixed. I'll buy a new one before I spend athousand on one problem though.

well, I cant say that i have traced the wiring diagram for the reg/rec yet but i do know that it could(just like a billion other things) be the problem, so maybe you lucked out and that was it, either way it never hurts to have a new one. But the r/r regulates all the power going through the system... well i dont want to say that. I dont know for sure, as far as i can tell actually, the fuse that is blowing on us(FI/IGN) is not regualted by anything but the previous 30amp main fuse and the relays. the diagram shows the power coming straight from the battery through the big red/yellow wire to the 30amp, to the engine stop realy to the 20amp fuse, or maybe the other way around. This is my first time dealing with electrical issuses so its all still confusing and hard to follow for me. Let see if i can get this right...

My issue was from the short in the kill switch, when it shorted it was opening a circuit with very low resistance which in turn makes the circuit draw much more amps, so as it tried to draw power through the fuse, it was more amps than the fuse could handle and pop. now with a closed circuit and the proper ammount of resistance it should be ok. I really wish i would have payed more attention in my engineering classes last year, we did all this **** and even made out own circuit boards with resistors, fuses, relays, motion detectors and all kinds of stuff, but im a Chemical engineering major, not electrical, so i blew it off, carma comes back to bite me in the ***. I think im going to contact my professor though to verify my assumption about how that works. Its friday now, got all weekend to work, we'll see.

Well, the bike is home, and still doesnt work worth ****. I just spent $366 and got 2 miles away, and the fuse blew again. I was like **** it, and got a tow truck to bring me home. Well, I guess I'll make this a project. If I dont figure this out in 3 months, Its gone.

Nah, bro, youre good. It was a good article, and it was worth a try. I opened the kill switch as soon as I got it home today. It was clean as a whistle.
