Default Brake help?

My front Brake on my 954 moans when im appliying the brakes, the pads are new and the discs are clean? A mate of mine said the fluid looked a tad dark ( It looks like a lightish Blackcurrent colour) and mentioned that i might want to get braided hoses. could the fluid be causing the moaning ? and should i switch to braided hoses. Any help will be great.

pad to rotor contact is what is causing the moan, and it's probably because the pads are new, i wouldn't worry about that. however, if you have dark fluid, id change it. either the fluid is going bad (which will lead to poor performance) or your hoses are going bad (which will lead to poor performance) - which you'll be able to tell by a mushy feeling, lack of feedback, .

if you want to throw some money at your bike, steel braided hoses are a great upgrade. - and you should change the fluid either way, so if you have 100 bucks to spend, go for it.

Braided lines are probably the best upgrade you can give to your bike. If your fluid is that dark. Do it all now! The fluid should look like a nice glass of beer minus the foam....

What brand pads did you put on your bike? I put a set of EBC HH pads on my 954 and there is a noticeable hiss sound when applying the brake. This is normal for certain types of pads.

As for the fluid change it. I change my brake fluid every year.

ya, if i had $20k to throw at my bike, i'd want it like that too! hahaha (p.s. i really wish i could ride a bike with BST rims on it so i could see how big of a difference there is - and the camera detector is awesome - i love FAST BIKES magazine)

look, i always do a lot more to my bike when i get a new one than i need to.... that way, should something go wrong, i know exactly what's been done. if you do it yourself, you know what you have.

easy way to tell about the pads - does it moan at higher speeds, or is it moaning as you come to a complete stop?

_Z_ - is that your bike? how do you like having the extended tube of fluid vs. the resevior? i've been thinking about doing that so i could use the short "stubby" rear resevior up front and get rid of the big one.

yeah it moans when i come to a full stop, pulled up alongside a 09 Blade today and thought i wonder what this guy thinks of my ride then apllied the front brakes and i was cringing its that bad , gonna get braided hoses thrown on pretty soon with some new fluid. ill post some pics up soon

I can imagine the BST rims would be great, but before i think about splashing that amount of cash im gonna sharpen my riding with hopefully a couple of track days.

cheers .
