Default Brake light doesn't work with front brake

Okay I have a one piece intergrated tail light and when I squeeze the front broke the brake light doesn't come on but when I press on the rear brake it does. Not really a big deal but a nuisance.

Thanks.

Default Problem has to be at the front

You already know the light works. Check the switch at the front brake lever. Disconnect it, and use a wire as a jumper across the terminals in the wiring harness. If that works, the problem is in the switch, or you didn't have a good connection. Clean it and try again. If that doesn't work, the problem is further along the harness.

9 times out 10 - maybe even 99 out of 100 - it's the fr brake switch or the connection to it.

no brake light is a hugh deal. you could get rear ended. i saw scooter get hit for that very reason yesterday. and my friend in highschool got her 65 mustang to look like a accordin for no brake lights. but like previously said check the switch or the wires going to it.

Default directions to replace the switch?

I have the same problem -- is this a CBR weakness? Anyway, once you figure out your switch doesn't work, is it hard to replace? Any advice for newbies? Clymer and I seem to speak different languages...

Default Not difficult

You may have to loosen the control assembly on the handlebar and rotate it a bit just to make the switch more accessible. Changing the switch itself isn't difficult.

it is one phillip head screw and 2 slip-on connectors. working a computer is more difficult. it is a mechanical switch. if it moves it will were out. it's a weakness of anything that moves. it a mantience issus not a problem.
