Brake light doesn't work w/ front brake.
Hey all, I'm new here. Just bought a 2002 F4i and I love it! I've had it about a month and have already put 1000 miles on it. The power commander is pretty sweet too. Got it dyno'd up to 100hp.

Anyways, I can't get the rear brake light to work if i press on the front brake. I've been using the rear brake (in conjunction with the front brake, as I should) to make it come on. Was the F4 designed this way? Or do I have a small electrical issue...
Glad to be here!

nope, the brake light should come on with the front brake. chances are you need a new front brake switch.
when you pull the front brake, it's that thing making a clicking sound.

Yeah thats not right. The lever should relay a signal so brake light comes on. Check the switch like Carlos mentioned above and report back.
I'd be in big trouble cause I never use my rear brakes[:'(]
And WELCOME!!

yeah, it makes the clicking sound. sounds like it's an electrical issue. All the wiring looks good in the rear of the bike. How do I access the brake switch?
This bike has been an electronic nightmare so far. I've had to completely rewire all of the turn signals so far, and this brake light is my last issue. Not sure if all this wiring came loose due to vibration or what, but once I get this fixed, I'm money...
glad to to be here btw!

are the running lights working?
if they are then i recommend that you check out the bulbs! its more likely that they bulbs brake filaments burnt out rather than the switch. also, just as a heads up. your rear brake switch will not trip if the the front switch is not working. however, i think your problem is much more simpler than the switches. g-luck
