advise on lifting

RE: advise on lifting
ok so i didnt really want to do any type of cutting up my ceiling or anything, so i rigged up a little frame made out of plumbing pipe and it should support the weight of the bike. im hoping this works. i had a friend over and we both weigh about 155 and we both hung on it and it didnt budge. we swung on it and everything to make sure it wouldnt tip over and all that and it seems sturdy so im hoping this works.

RE: advise on lifting
Looks like a nice little setup you built yourself. It looks like lead plumbing pipe?? If so I would recommend using locktite to help secure the bonds between the pipes. For what its worth I would use as many lifting weights as possible to test the bike lifting station before placing the bike on it. I just wouldn't want to put my 420+ lb bike on a make shift station only tested at 155. But again it looks very nice. And good luck to you.
Just re-read the post and I understand you tested it with 2 155 lb guys. That is a much better test than I originally thought. However I would still Locktite the threads as extra protection. Cheers, and good luck.

i can take it apart if i had to, but i put alot of sweat into making sure those things were pretty tight, so id rather not. i used pipe tape around the threads to help hold it together, nothing too crazy. if all else fells it would make a good coat hanging rack...lol.
