advise on lifting
whats up everyone, i got a 03 954 and its got an oil leak in one of the forks. i got the replacement oil seals and im trying to do the work myself, only problem is that i have no bike stand that will allow me to hold up the front without being on the forks...i've thought about maybe putting some sort of jack under the bike, but im not sure if the weight of the bike may bend the exhaust pipe. any ideas or advise would be appreciated. i have the bike stand that you put on the swingarm spools and it lifts the tire up, and the same for the front as well...

RE: advise on lifting
If you are using the pitbull stands. Your front stand can be converted from forklift style to one the will lift from the steering stem. This will allow you access to the fork seals. The problem is the damn conversion will run $75. Most regular bike shops are around $70 hr for labor....its a wash..... Now if you get creative. Just hang the front end from the ceiling. Rope, bungie cord, chain, etc. Leave the rear of the bike on a stand, then hook the front up and hoist it......carefully!

RE: advise on lifting
Be safe on yourself and your bike. Spend a couple of bucks and get something like this, put a strap with hooks around your bike for its protection.
