Is this not right?
This shows the % the gearing is changed with different sprockets compared to stock gearing of 15/43. Check out Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator to see how different sprockets will affect your bike. Going with 15/45 is a good setup but makes it even harder to keep the front wheel down under hard acceleration. I have 15/44 on my 954 and even with my bike lowered for drag racing I still have trouble keeping the front wheel down until 3rd gear.

Lower gearing (smaller front / larger rear) will improve acceleration but lower top speed.

Higher gearing (larger front / smaller rear) will decrease acceleration but improve top speed.

Only way to increase torque is motor work. Think of it related to your car. Would you expect the motor to make more torque by changing the gear in the rearend? No. Sprocket changes only move the rpm's up or down for a certain gear at a certain mph. Meaning your bike will get into the powerband quicker compared to stock gearing.
