Well all hope is not lost. I spoke with the state police and they suggested I contact the DMV which I did. The DMV said that I would have to have a VIN plate attached to the frame that one of their local agents would install but said that I would have to have the state police check the bike for a hidden VIN number. I would have to apply for the VIN plate and the fee is $125 dollars. I looked all over the bike, the sticker was removed, the one on the frame by the neck has been filed down and someone said there is one by the shock under the frame but I could not find that one.
From what I can see this section of this forum is a little dead and I dont know how big of a demand their is for what I have left of the bike or if anyone really is interested in picking up a project for the winter.

just read through the thread. crazy story.....post the details on how you got it back. i'm curious.
from the description, it sounds like you could make more by parting it out than putting it back together.
did you get another bike during those 2 years? that would only solidify parting it out.
other options: turn it into a track bike, if you would like to get into that. or stunt bike, if you are into that.

Well word of mouth is about the jist of it. I told enough people and had enough people looking and keeping an eye out that knew what my bike looked like that when some one said "I got this 929 but I think it was stolen" it still triggered in their minds that it might be mine.
This is what I got back .
this is what it use to look like
and this is what I have been reduced to riding since it was stolen.
and this is the 2010 Miss America on my bike so all has not been bad since its loss.
