+1 for self control

I've had my 929 for nearly 3 years and still have yet to hit WOT in 1st or 2nd gear.

I have a healthy fear / respect for my bike.

Just dont twist the throttle past the point where you start feeling out of control.

I am on the side of the fence where it's more fun to be better than your bike is.

If you were to take 3/4 of people who have 100hp+ bikes and put them on an SV650 (70hp) they would not only have more fun at a track but they'd be faster, too.

Well I think it depends on the type of track and the level of the rider. I loved my older and slower bikes but wouldnt want my 954rr to be lower on power by anymeans. I love te power this bike makes and love the energy and skill it takes to harness it. No offence to the other bikes out there but the 954 is raw and I love it. It may be easier to go faster on newer bikes but still have to love it.

He's right on with this. You're used to cranking the throttle wide open on the motocross bikes, and you don't need to do that here. Just ride the bike a while until your instincts adjust so that you're not going nuts on the thing. The 929 has a ton of power AVAILABLE, it only USES it when you tell it to. If you want to restrict its power, then restrict how much of it you are asking it to use.

Physically, you could drop a bunch of teeth on the rear sprocket, but that's gonna throw your speedo way off, and permanently eliminate your low-end (until you swap the sporckets again)

Nice Sean, this is exactly how it is. I could rape a corner faster on my F2 than my 929. it felt like i was on rails with my 600. When i got my first 900, i realized how fast the back tire wanted to come unglued with too much twist(corners). once i found my line on the 600 i could ***** out power thru the corner hard, try that on my 929 and you will not be on it for long. twist of the wrist is every thing on big bikes. to back you up ill say the last time i rode a buddys 600, i found how hard i could push it compared to my 929. well said Sean...
