oil light when idling?
I searched for this on here, but never really found any answers. My '01 929 runs fine, but the red oil light comes on when it's idling after it's warmed up. The dealer checked the pressure supposedly a couple of weeks ago, and said it ran way too good to have low oil pressure, then said they were checking the sensor. Well, turns out they say it is the sensor and today I took it for them to change. After they changed it, the light still comes on. The oil level is fine, runs fine, the damn light comes on at idle. Any ideas?
Well, the obvious is that you have low oil pressure, or the ECU thinks you do, or the light is shorting on. Not sure how you check it for real without using the sender, certainly "ran way too good" wouldn't work for me. Perhaps another shop?
Yeah, I may have to try another shop, but the only reason I went to the dealer is it's been doing it ever since i got it, and the work is free. If I raise the idle up even 50 rpms, it goes out. Is it possible to adjust the idle? I am thinking of trading it in in a week or so, then it will be their problem.
personally i use mobil 1 full synthetic 10W-40 , but depepnding on the weather in your area and the type of riding you do you might want to use a different weight
