Default Oil leak 929

I have an oil leak on my 11000mile 2000 929. The bike has never been down. The leak is exactly 6 inches in front of the center of the kickstand. I noticed it about two weeks ago on the mat of the fairing.

I bought the bike used about one month ago . When I noticed the leak I wasn't sure if it had been there or if it was new. I am pretty sure it is new... After a 160 mile ride I am certain it is still dripping very slowly. However, I can't figure out where the oil is leaking from. I took off the lower fairing and looked up but couldn't seem to find the source.

I have a few pics if someone will share the easiest way to post 2 pics on this website.

I just bought the bike and don't know a ton about what is what in the engine.

Does anyone have any advice?

929 bills... 929 skills...
Check out the oil my 929 spills..

Lol

Yeah, Take the plastics back off and clean the area with Simple Green or brake cleaner. Keep the plastics off, turn it over and you should be able to find the source. If you're lucky it's coming from the stator cover gasket, which is a cheap and simple fix.

Easiest way to get pics up, is to go here: http://www.imageshack.us/ upload the pic from your computer. Then click on the little picture icon in the fast reply toolbox section of this thread... it'll say: http://... simply put in the direct link you get for your picture at image shack.

Hope I helped.

Bike may have gone down before you bought it and broke something.

After I got mine home, found an oil leak coming from the stator, went to change the gasket, and a 2" piece of the engine block came off that the dude had siliconed in place. Had to get it welded... Still leaks a bit on me... meh.

The silver part centered in the pic is where the leaking is occuring.

This is the area with the oil leaking. The brown spot up and left of center is oil

This is the area clean- different angle

Sorry I am new to this pic stuff.

Anyway, I think I figured it out. The fluid is coolant not oil- I was confused because the fluid was dirty and shiny on my finger like oil... My bad

The coolant is draining out of a small overflow hole. It makes sense since the overflow container is at the upper limit for coolant. It's simply draining...

The guy I bought the bike from overfilled it.

Thanks for the help
