trouble starting

when cold the bike starts fine but after riding for a wile then stoping and return to start the bike is hard to start if will start at all and trying to start for a few times kills the baterry. any ideas why this is?

Look at the battey and complete a load test. Or see if it will start with a boost. Have you tried this? If the battery is no good then this is your problem. What kind of bike is it?

after i charge it it starts but i have a trickle charger so the bike has cooled down. the bike is a 96 900rr
