I have a 2001 cbr 929 and it is popping out of 2nd gear also,,,at high rmps also many missed shifts to 2nd,my local shop says shifting for are bent,so can this be done without pulling the engine,they say the cases have to be split and pull the engine,if the engine can be left in that saves alot of time for me,I only put 2000 miles on the bike and place i bought the bike from say no warranty and sorry about my luck,i real hope this is something i can fix myself.

 

Can the shift dogs be replaced as well without splitting the case because i am looking at some beer in the project already but if someone can do it in 2 hrs i can do it in 4.

 

[:@] So, I"m about to start kicking and screaming. I've been without my RR for over a week now. I thought I had burned the clutch up, at least that's what the guy at the parts counter said. So I waited a week for my clutch kit to come in, and hurry home to slide the new plates in, grinning eagerly, ready to ride again. NO NO NO, still slipping???? Are you kidding me. I've kept my cool though, ripped open the clutch cover again, and still nothing. Just when I was about to give up and take it to a repair shop, I was preparing the vaseline is more like it, I found this string. Thank you soooo much guys!!!! But can someone give me a definitive list of what exactly I should replace (not just need to). I'm a tech so I try to do things right and take the precaution of replacing possible wear parts. So far I know to replace the 3 shift forks, the shaft, and the gaskets...anything else???? Anyone know some good places to get bike parts??? This is my first bike, and I'm still learning about service/maintenance. Also if you have a service manual holla holla.

Do any of yinz know if it is possible to access the shift forks, drums and gears through the oil pan on a 2000 F4?

I believe the procedure'll work on the 600 as well.

 

Are you popping out of gear or getting clutch slip? If you’re getting clutch slip AFTER replacing the clutch plates, you may have used an oil with a slipper additive. At least that’s what it sounds like to me.
