Mystery Wire ID

RE: Mystery Wire ID
If it is indeed a 1993 bike, then it has a cable driven speedometer. You should be able to easily identify it. It will be the only cable coming off of the wheel and it goes directly up to your gauge cluster. Perhaps someone just put a cover from a newer year on it and left the unused wire to dangle.
The second picture, as SpiritRR said, is definitely the idle adjuster, no question.
I will try to take some pictures of mine and post them for you. Perhaps that will help you.

You guys are batting .1000! The engine does have 893CC on the right side of it. So this is an early CBR 900 engine.
Here is the speedo cable you guys mentioned. I'm going to buy and install a new one.
This pic sux, but you can see I have the early cluster.
So I will see if I can find the right spocket cover and an operational speedo cable. Now, now, my right side middle fairing does have a large who on the tip. Is this where the idle know connects too?
Another question I have is about the fuel delivery system. When the bike was delivered, the tank was off. The tank has three connection points for fuel or air. Two metal tubes are close to together, one thinner than the other. The third tube has some kind of device connected to it. Looks like a pressure regulartor or something. My question is which tube connects directly to the fuel pump? The skinny tube is self explanitory. This line must be to let air flow into the tank. However, I can not tell if the fuel pump connects directly to the tube next to the skinny tube or does it connect to the tube with the pressure regulator. For now, I have the pump connected to the tube next to the skinny one and a tube that goes up to the carbs or fuel rail is connected to the tube with the pressure regulator.
