2003 F4i MYSTERY...NEED HELP
I have a 03 F4i that i can't get to start. Everythings fine, engine cranksand doesn't startmy fuel pump doesn't wind up when turned on. I followed everything in the manual but didn't help at all. Even checked for fault codes but i got no blinks. Whats also weird is that my FI light would faintly flash really fast when bike is turned off sometimes. So far...all fuses are good, ecm is good, fuel pump is good and getting power from the plug, jumped angle sensor, engine stop switch is good, fresh gas, fully charged battery...thats about all i can think of. The fuel cut off relay does not engage when powered on, but when i jump the plug, fuel pump winds up. Tried new relay but no luck. My rear brake lights and turn signals are not hooked up, but i don't think thats related. Is there something im missing? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!
i had a similar problem where bike would crank but wouldn't start. i didn't hear my fuel pump priming (that high pitched sound when you turn the key to "on"). got it fixed and the guy who fixed my bike said, "you had a damaged ground wire in your bank angle area which caused the fuel pump to not power up". hope that helps.
might be the same as yours... might not.
might be the same as yours... might not.
not exactly sure on where it's located or anything about it... lol. that's what the guy said to me though when he repaired it. try check all ur ground wires.... that's the only advice i can give since i'm not too good with bikes yet.
Kill switch in Stop position. Bike not in neutral.longshot but...take your pump out from the tank. Get a new gasket and be careful when removing and reinstalling. Use proper torque specs.
Is the bike tip sensor upright? I know that my bike wouldn't run with the harness dangling because the tip sensor was upside down and thus killing the fuel.
had the same-ish problem. check the sub-harness where the ingition cylinder pulgs into the main harness. i think thats where i found myproblem. ive heardfrom a few people that apin goes bad in the actual plug... good luck!
