Default My 99' 919 is running... slow?

Hows it goin' everyone,

Got a little problem with my bike. I just upgraded from a 600 to this bike on Tuesday.. It is a 1999 CBR 900RRX, 20k miles. It hasn't really been ridden in awhile and was sitting before I got it.

I changed the spark plugs, the old ones I pulled were black and looked like they've been in there awhile. The ones I replaced them with aren't anything special, just some Autolights.

Anyways, this bike doesn't seem as peppy as I expected. It seems really sluggish threw the gears until 5-6k~ RPMs and then it picks up. Best way to describe it, is that the bike feels like its being held back. I was expecting a DRASTIC difference between this bike and my old 600 and I'm just not feeling it. Did a little pull on the highway today and it didn't really seem to accelerate as fast as I was expecting either.

Judging by the old plugs, I'm assuming its running rich.. Could that be the main issue thats causing ALL of this or could it be that combined with jetting be a little off? The bike does have a slip on, looks to be an older 2 brothers pipe. Should I stage 2 jet it?

Any suggestions? I'm trying to get a proper diagnosis so I can either do the work myself or take it to a dealer/bike shop to get done properly. I REALLY want to see what this 900 is all about!

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

Shane
