Default Leaky Carburetor

Hey i have gas leaking outta a tube from my 1999 cbr 900rr, its coming from the 2nd carb from the left, i dont know what to do and gas is all over the place, does this tube connect somewhere or does it just sit there as a breather?

It's an overflow tube for the float bowl. It's highly likely you have a float which is sticking open, hence the "leak".

i just cleaned out the float bowls though, and the rest of the carb, and then ran stabilizer through a whole tank, i just dont know if it connects to anything cause now its leaking gas everywhere, is it possible that even though i just cleaned it, no kiddin two days ago that it could already be stuck again?

Either that hose has a home or the carbs are overflowing.....hard to tell from here.

If the tube in question is in fact a vent tube then I'd say your float needle and/or needle seat are contaminated which, even if the float is operating correctly, can still pass gas (that's right, I said it).

There's one fuel feed tube which supplies the carb bank and at least one vent tube for a bank of 4 carbs. Pics would be helpful but you can always check around to see if there are any fuel-related bungs that look like something might go there. Again, hard to tell from here.

Crap... You've already answered my question without me having to make my own post. It is a vent tube. I learned this after consulting the manual for the bike. I too have taken the carbs apart, cleaned and even replaced the float needles. It just occurred to me that I may have over looked the seat itself while changing out the needles. So what you are saying is that I have to take it all back apart again. I have a 1993 that I'm trying to bypass the fuel pump. If I get the thing to stop leaking fuel all over the place I'll let you know.

Took the carbs off today and cleaned the float seats and put it all back together. The cleaning seems to have stopped the leaking out of the vent tubes. Instead of testing with the tank, I used a funnel with some tubing. Now the problem seems to be no spark. Back to the drawing boards...

You may find that the engine won't run properly within certain RPM's.....likely in the lower mid range and up but you could get lucky.

At least the leaking stopped, right?

Make sure your handlebar switch is in the "run" position and possibly look into bypassing safety switches one by one.....kickstand, clutch, neutral position (just make sure you're NOT in gear).

Thanks for the input. I have spark now... A fuse was to blame! Replaced the fuse and it started right up. The we realized that 2 of the slide diaphragms weren't working so the carbs came off again, new used diaphragms installed and now we're finally up and running. All of this without a fuel pump. Mid range is strong and I cant test the upper end because I don't have a plate on it yet. The thing that is keeping it from being perfect is off idle. It has a hesitation and sputter to it when taking off from a stop. I'm guessing that it needs the carbs synced. I appoligize to the OP for having my questions answered on your post.
