Default Can you use a stator from a different model cbr?

Hi, My girlfriend rides a 1996 cbr 900rr, and her stator just went bad, we did all the tests, the R/R is fine, and the battery is fine, we pulled the stator off and it is burnt pretty bad.

So my question is, could we get a stator from a different bike, say a 600 from the same time period or a different model 900? Cause on Ebay, there are cheap stators for different cbr's, just not our specific model.

I tried searching a little, and I normally dont mind spending an hour sifting through random threads to find what I need, but I didnt want to waste time.

Thank you for the help in advance!

Hey Sam, check out this thread. click here I was just helping Sanders Justin with his charging problem. If you've got a multimeter you can do the same checks. I know you said the stator is burnt. But I 'd check it out before spending the money for a newer one.

Check the plug under the seat (3 yellow wires coming up from the stator), in front of the battery It could also be melted.

You can do a search for Honda parts online and get the information you need to find out if a certain stator from another bike will work. I did that when I was searching for a Rectifier/Regulator.
