Default CA model exhaust pipe and CA model bike?

Looking to replace stock pipe with something else. Does it matter if you buy California model slip on if you have California model f4i? I bought it in CA so I must have Oxygen sensor on my pipe. Do you have to buy CA model pipe to make it street legal or it doesn't matter and you just gain more power without the sensor? If any of you live in CA, please let me know. Thanks!

CA bikes have O2 sensors. doesn't make the bike weaker. it'll just lean out the bike when you're cruising so you save gas.

if you have a non CA bike and a pipe for CA bikes, just get a plug for it to fill the hole

if you have a cali bike and non cali pipe, get an O2 simulator.
getting rid of the 02 sensor doesn't make your bike stronger, in fact, it eats up gas mileage.
hope this helps.

Thanks!! Hope O2 simulator is not too expensive!

so i take it you have a cali bike and non cali pipe right?
O2 sensors are like 16 bucks max.

yeah that's it. I found O2 sensor eliminator kit. Is this same as the O2 sensor simulator? Just curious, if you completely unhook the sensor, you run richer mix all the time or especially on freeway. Is that a big minus or a plus that you have more power constantly. I'm not trying to save 16 bucks here but how does the sensor eliminator work?

the OEM sensor tells the computer to lean out only during freeway speed/constant cruising RPM. does this by measuring the amount of oxygen left in the exhaust...if it's constant and below or above a certain limit, it tells the ECU to lean out.

the simulator tricks the ECU to not lean out during freeway and constant speed/RPM by saying that there is a certain amount of O2 in the exhaust. everything else is unaffected. It won't make you run richer, just not lean out during the constant RPM.

if you unhook the sensor, you'll get the red light from the ECU. that's why you would need a simulator.

keep the sensor, it's worth like 2 bills!

Thanks for great answer! I like to keep the sensor if possible.
So can one install O2 sensor to non-CA pipe by drilling a hole? Or you just must get CA model?

yes you can but it's harder. basically you need to drill the hole but also weld a bun on it...or get a nut with the same thread as the O2 sensore, drill the hole in the midpipe and then weld the nut to it. that's basically what the bun is.

as far as performance, with something like a car O2 simulators will allow you to run richer, but with the F4i, no go since it only affects the bike by leaning it out but not to add gas and it's only during constant cruising speed/rpm.

So the bottom line is that I don't really need O2 sensor. It won't benefit or hurt to get non CA pipe and put a sensor eliminator, right? Thanks for your expert opinion!!

yea...need the O2 sensor to shut up the ECU warning light and to lean you out during cruising RPM. it has everything to do with emissions and nothing with performance...but if you keep it on, you'll get better gas mileage.

nothing will happen to the pipe...it won't know the difference.
