Blade FZR Union

Ok .. things a little slower than I’d hoped but am making progress. Have rebuilt back up to a
Rolling chassis which though doesn’t take that long have been wondering just where the bike
Will be used and what will be fitted. The current plan is to assemble with a daytime MOT so will Still remain sparse which is what I want but also gives a little flexibility to ride on the road and if it stays In the original guise will be very entertaining riding with the bigger modern stuff. Should turn a few heads and be a annoying to say the least! So the clocks I think will be the standard blade items and having offered up the exhaust there are some clearance issues to look at first. Also it looks just horrible .. will spend the weekend with the grinder me thinks!

Been really busy at work so have struggled to get much done but did start the pipe mods and as I’d decided on the day time MOT route have fabbed up a clock set bracket / front fairing support.
The method I use is slow and not perfect but functional.
Using cardboard templates, a vice as a bender and a grinder or jig saw to cut it’s all very basic.
Cornflakes are a favorite of mine as they not only provide a carb Boost in the small hours but the boxes make great templates that can bold a shape when folded to help offering up before cutting the material….
Oh and remember the old saying ‘measure twice cut once’ Moto and you can’t go too far wrong…

To be sure the fit is right with the fairing I need to look at the mounting of the exhaust and the lower fairing brackets the radiator and the miles of loom which Honda have put on the blade….. It’s one of those jobs which have a bearing on so many different things it’s easy to get carried away and try to wing it or get totally overwhelmed by it... I’m not even sure about the width of the motor and the relationship with the fairing so over the next few days I’ll try to offer the fairing up and have a look

Hi all, played around a little with the fairing position to complete the bracket and also to see how the width of the motor might affect things, also cut down the pipes as the collector box as it was fouling the rear linkage.
Really happy with the fit … had to cut out the bottom to clear the pipes but at a glance you’d never know what lurks beneath. Threw on the loom too but its enormous on this chassis especially at the front end by the clocks so will have to take a look at that as there’s nothing worse than loads of bunched up untidy wiring on a special.

Managed to squeeze a little project time the last few days as its starting to take shape and a little more exciting. OK, with the fairing on I had a play around with the pipe routing .I wanted something much shorter and more in keeping with the lines but still must pass the 95 db noise testing at the tracks.
I’ve cut back the collector pipes and rejoined them to gain a bit of room but I’ll need to sweep over to the side and having strapped up a tail pipe I’ll try to work backwards and see how much room I’ve got to play with.

Howdie all….. This week has been a productive one, the collector box section is finished and I dug out a link pipe which I’ve cut up and I'll use until I get a complete system made up or I’ll try and make one myself at a later date.
Next up was the brackets for the can .. I had a larger SS one which needed resizing.. cut off the length no longer needed and re-bent and shaped.
