Bike stalls when I pull up the choke?
I have a 95 CBR 900RR. I am having problems with my choke stalling the bike.
If I don't use the choke to start the bike and just give it a little throttle for about 30-60sec the bike warms up an runs great.
When I use the choke to start the bike it just won't start.
If the bike is running and I pull up the choke the bike will stall.
I spoke to someone at honda and they suggested that I replace the fuel filter... so I did, but I still have the same problem.
Any ideas?
TIA

wow welcome thats strange never heard of that but y use the choke if u can give it thro i use my choke olny because mines wont start any onther way when cold also never call honda they screw u and want money
I don't have to use the choke, but in the morning if I getting my jacket and helmet on I could pull up on the choke and start the bike and not have to hang on the throttle. I guess I just want the bike to work properly.
Thanks for the input

The function of the choke is to 'choke' the air intake to the combustion chamber whereby only fuel will be supplied then. thats the reason you can feel the engine will be reved up slightly when the choke is pulled.
When the choke is on you don't need to rev up the throttle. If you still need to rev up, that means your timing would probably low. Try to increase it slightly.
Anyway why you need to pull up the choke when you are running? It will definately cause the bike to stall.

I don't normaly pull up on the choke when the bike is running.... I was just stating what it does.
As for the choke when I start the bike in the morning and I pull up on the choke and try to start the bike... it just turns over and over. It won't start.
If I push the choke down and then start the bike with a little trottle it starts just fine... if I then pull on the choke it dies (that's what I was talking about earlier).
Do you think it's a problem with the timing?

So your bike won't start regardless you pull your choke or not in the morning unless you rev up the throttle, am i right?
I believe your timing would be probably low. Its no harm if you try to increase it slightly.
Anyway there a lot of guys around here with sound knowledge. Don't worry I'm sure they can assist you.

Your carb's need cleaning, you have a fuel passage clogged. Take them apart & use carb cleaner & compressed air to clean them be careful not to break or crack the float's though.
