My 900 will able to pull even on the top gear while breezing through moderate speed. There shouldn't be any bogging or noise like what you had mentioned. Lets looks at simple things first, what is your sprocket size anyway? Anything down the stock size to gain top speed will effect while pulling as well.

Let me give you the rundown on ws been done this season and then we are all on the same page. The bike has: Factory Pro Airbox and carb kit, 4 Degree igniton advancer, RK/Vortex -1/+2 sprocket kit, APE manual tensioner, and everything on it has been restored, rebuilt, or replaced. With the bikes current gearing I would think that acceleration should be no issue, and at this point I am thinking there is still something not fully worked out with the carbs. Now I called factory pro and they say that carb tuning shouldn't cause engine noise, but that is BS, because if the bike runs ragged that will always lead to engine noise. Basically I think its pilot curciut related because the bike just doesn't like to have fully throttle applied too early. I have gone with 140 Main jets which shoulbe more than adequate, and I went three positions down the needle so that too seems safe. The bike isles and cruises very well, its just having some issue with application of the throttle. THe carbs have been synched and double checked this week, and the bike has a new fuel filter. So either there is a loose tolerance somewhere in the rotating assembly or this thing is leaning out somewhere and pinging. Maybe I should go one more clipdown on the needles since the noise happens between 4K and 9K? I don't know, but I do know that I can control it my applying the throttle steadily andthe bike is damn fast that I really am not gonna cain if I can't break the rear loose and open her up like a madman, gets you into trouble anyway. I will continue to run Techron and maybe the detonation or pinging will be affected. THe bike does not bog, and has very crisp and accute throttle response so its just this little clatter noise I am focused on. More help?

hhmmmm..... everything seems ok to me too. I think my main jet is 120 if not mistaken. Just try to go one clip down first like what you had mentioned.

check to see if the noise goes away when you engauge or pulled the clutch level in, if it does then it's possibly loose bearing or some type of wear inside the clutch basket.
