Default What Oil and Filter to use? Be the First change since I bought My 07

I am wondering what oil to buy and oil filter of course. Just curious to what some of you guys use and how happy you are with it? The bike is a 07 CBR 600RR and it just rolled on to the 10,000 mile mark. Its my daily driver now and i want to take very good care of her! This will be the first oil change its had since i have owned it and it actually be an early change but i have no idea how long its been in there, it looks fine still very new looking but i like to make dern sure... Thanks!

I use Mobil 1 racing 4t and a fram ph6017A filter. I read crappy reviews on the filter so i moved away from those. For shifting Mobil 1 is good although i found that it kinda ran down fast(maybe im just running it hard). I say it ran down fast because i changed the oil at 7k with mobil 1. It was supposed to go 4k before another change. Shortly after hitting the 10k mark my bike started idleing higher. I wasnt sure why but i asked people here and checked everything and all was fine. I decided to do an oil change at 10.5k and when i was done with the change my idle went back to normal.

I recently used Castrol racing 4t and so far i think it shifts just as good as Mobil 1 and its about 1-2 bucks cheaper per quart. For my filter i went with a Puralator PureOne PL14610.

Have fun.

EDIT: For the filter i got the long one but the code for the shorter one is PL14612. Im not sure what the difference in length can mean but it was all they had so i went with the long one.

You just opened Pandora's box. You will get a lot of different answers. I just Amsoil in all my stuff. I bought my RR back in October and haven't really rode it since I did the oil change so I can't say how it is in my RR but I used it in my F4i with great results. I always used the OEM filter from my Honda dealer.

I think what you are going to find out is that everyone runs something different but we all stick to name brands like Amsoil, Mobil 1 4T, Repsol, Rotella T or even the Honda GN4. I have never heard a bad story about any of these oils. Get yourself a quality filter and pick yourself up one of these brands and you shouldn't have any issues.

I use Rotella T6 in my F4i since it's the easiest to find. Nobody close stocks Amsoil or Repsol. Honda GN4 means a trip to the stealership (both of whom I loathe). And while Pepboys near my apartment stocks Mobil 1 4T, I have never seen more than 2 quarts on the shelf.

I order mine online. Around $5/qt and free shipping to my front door when I buy it by the case.
