RE: Tick Tick Tick Tick!!
It's normal.
On a 4-cylinder car, you don't hear it when you drive because you have all the noise supressents, baffling, etc. But when you raise the hood of the car, you hear what the engine really sounds like. Rather noisy and they make the exact ticking noises as our bikes do (especially when you slowing raise the RPM). Since our bikes don't have hoods or sealed doors, or quiet interior cabins, we hear every noise the engine makes.
So yes, the ticking noises are normal.

RE: Tick Tick Tick Tick!!
I found a rattle would happen on mine between 4 and 5 k crusing. I solved that by put some foam on the under side of the tank cover where it was flexing enough to hit the ECU. This made things better but, I have the same noise you have and I think it is the injectors. You only hear it at low speeds because of everything else gets to loud when you go faster. You also here it more on the throttle because you are opening up throttle plate allowing the the sound from the pintle come out easier.

RE: Tick Tick Tick Tick!!
If your bike is an 05 or an 06 they are notorius for rattleing from the tank cover right under where the indent is in the front. The guys over on 600rr.net have been pulling the cover off and putting some double sided tape or sound packing under the front of it. Apparently problem solved..
