i purchased my first sportbike in April.. it was a 06 600RR and i love it. i was never intimidated at all with the power.. I just took it easy for awhile and now and 100% confident in my abilities. I am not stunting or doing wheelies or anything like that just riding in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Icon leather coat (except 90+ days) gloves and helmet, Even though you don't have to in South Dakota.
I love it and i would tell first timers to at least buy a 600 right out of the gate because you will just be bying one in a few months anyway..

Depending on what you want to get out of your first bike. I'll compare...
Both bikes are powerful, 600RR a little more powerful obviously. If you want to go that much faster, and have handling that much more responsive get the RR. If you want something that will teach you how to ride easier and is more comfortable get the F4i. My F4i was my first bike, and I found it to be an awesome first bike to learn on, for me personally anyway. Starting with a 600RR I think I would've been fine as well though. Deep down inside my head I'm thinking I should've just gone with the orange RR when I first looked at bikes, but I'm still glad I got the F4i.
And another thing, get any bike you want, just know and best prepare yourself for what you may be getting yourself into, lol.

Get your fundamentals down on a less potent motorcycle. after a year, trade in/sell your Standard Sport for a SuperSport.
this is your FIRST bike, not your LAST bike. basics first, learn um, ingrain them, move up.
