I dont know about a shift light, but I would say a rev limiter light is an oh **** light. thats just me though. definately dont need to be hitting the limiter constantly. too much undue wear on your motor, tranny, and probably other things too, plus the risk of destroying the motor too. aint quite worth it to me.

The rev limiter kicks in about a thousand or two RPM after the shift light comes on (yeah, it's amberish-yellow on the 06RR's). The light comes on about 250 rpms right before redline. A buddy of mine has a stunt-preped white 600RR and he demonstrated it to me, lol. (just as long as it wasn't my bike).

yes, but it is not a shift light, i repeat it is NOT a shift light. it comes on right before you redline maybe a few hundred rpms, the light is just in indicator that you are almost at over rev. the light is in conjuction with the actual limiter, give your bike a good rev and youll see.

no offense blue fox, but if the rev limiter kicks in a couple thousand after the light comes on, and the light comes on 250rpms b4 redline, that would make your rev limiter kick in at 16,750rpms which it does not.

they are connected and it happens so fast its almost impossible to see, i think they both (light and rev lim.) kick in right around redline then it just bounces off it, hard to notice with my eyes glued to the road.

I repeat it is NOT a shift lift....lol

I was going to write about the same thing...it's not a shift light and on my 2003 it only comes on when I hit the rev limiter...nothing comes on 2,000 rpm before the rev limiter indicator...if it does on your bike do you really thing Honda recommends shifting at or around 13,000 rpm all the time?

Actually you wrote this which is even more confusing:

WTF-----> "The rev limiter kicks in about a thousand or two RPM after the shift light comes on...The light comes on about 250 rpms right before red line..." <-----WTF?!?!

I've never seen a shift light on my 06, only the REV light.

i think ur correct that little amber light is almost impossible to see

but it seems like the order of events is
amber light-----> 250 rpms----------> redline-------->1000 rpms needle bounces

i am not a professional needle bouncer but i have hit the amber light a couple of times and never noticed a limiter, watch that video above he goes flying through amber light and red line and stays up there before the limiter hits?
