Haven't read anything about that in any of the manuals, but I'm not exactly sure. I'm betting no.

We have a shift light...forgive me because I have a 2003, but you newer guys have a shift light? What RPM does it come on? All I have is the rev limiter light and you don't want to be pinging off that baby every shift!

Yeah, the shift light comes on right at redline. It's a little amber light. You can't see it too well during the daytime, but it's noticable at night. When I get my instrument clusters' LED's reworked this winter, I'm going to have them put in a brighter LED to see if that helps.

If this is what he's doing, I don't think using the rev limiter is a good idea for a shift light...not only are you revving the **** out of the bike all the time, but you are waaaaaay out of the power band...I know some people use it for shifting, for example, weighting the shifter and when it hits the limiter it up shifts, but like I wrote...you're out of the power band and not getting your peak horse power.

The shift light on the 06 is yellow, but I have never kept it there. Does anyone know if the rev limiter kicks in or does the engine just detonate?
