Default Reset Button Problem. Help

I have an 03 600rr. The reset button does not work. I bought it this way so I don't know what caused it. I've tried resetting with the key on and off, with the bike running and not running. It feels like there's just nothing there. Anyone had this problem? Any Suggestions?

the little rubber plug isn't long enough to touch the sensor inside your dash. thus, you can push it as much as you want, and it won't work on 03-04. just pull out the little rubber part, and push it down with a screwdriver. it will work fine then. afterwards just put the rubber piece back

gtjimm is partially true, but here's the full deal:

The rubber buttons are not long enough and if you do what gtjimm says it will work. However to get it right, it requires a bit more work. Between the rubber buttons and the circuit board there is a small white plastic piece that falls out sometimes. I wish I had a picture but this is exactly how my bike is as well. To get the little white plastic piece back where it belongs -- between the rubber and circuit board -- it takes either a LOT of patience, or you need to remove the display unit which requires removing the front fering from what I have read on the rest of this forum.

If you want more info, I would suggest searching the rest of this forum...there is a thread about it somewhere. Hope this helped, and maybe I will take a picture soon.

So are you saying the '05 gauges haven't had that problem?

Good heads up adamscottmartin, now I just have to see how my patience is. I'm not sure about the other years, but this is an extremely common problem on these bikes. I choose to just reset it manually, but I'm sure you could glue something on to the end to extend it. Who knows, maybe an mechanical pencil eraser?

It's a good way to get to know your bike...just take off the front fairing and disassemble the cluster...that's what I did (but I was prepping the bike for the track anyway)...
