i see the reasoning behind the posted speed signs, they anticiapte the worst case scenario drivers as willcasp pointed out. i think i fear unexpected loose gravel the most, that's why i take it slow.

gravel isn't too bad...if you don't panic tires will eventually grip...what's more scary is a bambi looking straight at you in middle of a turn...

it's no BS...there are riders that doubles the speed limits onthe turns...they've also takin' those turns thousands times...
Actually,sometimes it's notBS. There are plenty of people that are familiar with the roads and have the skills to do that, but there are a lot more people that talk **** and post things that are pure BS. This subject is one of them.

DONT ride to look cool or impress. Ride your ride and screw everyone else.I take curves I know very well at 2x posted speed or whatever I am comfortable with. If I have not seen a curve before or am not comfortable then I will sometimes go slower than posted speed. I could care less what anyone else thinks, I ride for me not others. Hell, even when we go for group rides, we ride our own pace.
