Default Max speed in each gear, torque curve?

Hi folks, I still don't have a user manual so was wondering if any of you'all have any max speeds for each gear. I heard this thing can do 60mph in 1st is that true?

Also, what does the torque curve look like? and what rpm do we achieve max torque and what rpm does it drop off?

Thanks and happy holidays you'all

Dennis

Not many posts here - I hope you're not a new rider as well?!? If you are the short answer is that they're freaking fast. IF you are a new rider, keep the rpm's down, all of the wheels on the ground, and keep it slow.

OK - that over!

In my profile I've got several charts of speeds in each gear with different sprocket ratios. I think I also have the charts for my bike's torque and HP curve. Note that at that time my air filter was dirty and I was running a D&D pipe (known for noise, not HP)... That same night a clean F4 with a Hindle turned an HONEST 105hp on the dyno. I except most F4s will turn 92-98hp most of the time.

It seems something is messed up with the photo galleries... I'll have to find the images again.

This is for a 2000 CBR 600 F4. D&D pipe, bad air filter, and a touch on the rich side. You should be getting another 10 hp.

Here are the direct links:

1st Gear - Fast,

2nd Gear - Faster than first

3rd Gear - Faster than first and second. Things getting a little silly.

4th Gear - Faster than first, second and third. Slight mental retardation going on.

5th Gear - Faster than first, second, third and fourth. Pucker factor in full effect.

6th Gear - Faster than all the rest. Really ****ing fast. Look at the picture on the left. That's me under my helmet in 6th. Hope you have your will done up.

I hope this helps...LOL...

Hey thanks for the info, data, and pictures.

I can see from the graphs that at (RPMs) 4K you get power, at 7K more power, 12K torque drops off.

I had the chance to take her out yesterday and play with her a balmy 41 deg where I live (Mother Nature rained night before and then had sunny and windy next morning so roads were clear plus, turns out I have the Michelin Pilot Road tires which are Sport Touring meaning they're ok in cold). This is roughly what I found, at 4K, you get some decent acceleration. I got to 7K and it started to feel good but the bike was just going a little too fast for the 50 mph speed limit. I actually think, in a 50 mph zone, you can get away with staying under 5K lots of torque already.

I'm patiently waiting for the day when I get her out on the highway :-)

And that summary above about the gearing speeds I think kind of helps because this bike is just plain fast (at least compared to my cruiser) interesting interpretation of the speeds for each gear :-)

OT:
The personality of this bike is very interesting the shifting is so smooth (close gears and sweet, quiet shifts), the sound at high rpm is sweet, bike is plain fast and smooth.

I'm not going to go too darn fast at first (again, no going faster than skill level for me). I'm just trying to get to know what the bike can do before I try it (even though I'll probably keep under 70% of it's full potential).

Thanks again,

Dennis
