i have the jardine rt-1slip on on my 07 cbr 600rr its perfect i would say around 6k or 7k rpm its realy loud and its pretty loud when u start it up till it idels down i would say its kinda like a constand deep buzz sound. my buddy just put one one his 650r ninja and it sounds like a cruiser its a little louder than mine but i would say its b/c its 2cylinder short pipe, but overall i dont care for the look of mine to much just b/c of the size i wish it was a little flatter and more flush but overall i thnks its perfect for ridding street

When you put an aftermarket exhaust on, your bike will breath easier. This makes it run rich bc your ecm is set to allow only a certain amount of fuel at certain rpm/throttle percentage
Since from the factory your bike is set up to run lean below around 7k rpm anyway, it only makes that worse

this is where the power commander comes in
if mapped properly, you'll notice a much smoother powerband and much more torque at low rpm. also it won't lean anymore, so your exhaust won't pop and you won't foul plugs as easily

wouldnt spend the money on having a shop charge you to do it. if you can take sum fairings off and plug sum stuff in while following directions you can do it... all you need is a computer to hook it up to and send a map to it... if you dont wanna use a generic map, save the money ud pay to have it installed and install it yourself and have it mapped by a shop dont spend more than 200 to get it dyno tuned though. if they ask for more than that fina another place.
