Default melty air filter

05 cbr600rr about 17k miles. just got into the air filter to change it, and noticed the top lil spoiler/vving/flare type thing on the plastic part of filter is real melted. the melty part is right behind some kind of breather hose. pcv hose maybe. im replacing the filter which is extremely dirty, but does anyone kno if this is normal or something rong vvith the bike for all that heat coming out of that hose. maybe filter is so cloggd, its sucking extra hard on the crankcase, bringng up extra heat?

If it was that dirty, I would say your right. Check the new one in 250 miles, see if its doin it to that one. I say, no more being clogged, no more melting.
