And don't kid yourself - that 600RR can also be a 'Casket on Wheels' - and often is for riders who fail to use common sense along with what should have been learned in MSF. I was 21 and indestructible once - even at my ripe old age, the thrill of crackin' that throttle wide open is addictive. Ride within your skills and abilities, and be patient.

While I'm on my soapbox, make sure you budget for gear. $1,000 is about right. Thisamount shouldcover helmet, leather jacket, gloves with gaunlets, pants, and boots. Shop around online and check out the forum sponsors for specials.

Newfiebullet, i think you should look into more comfier bikes. may be an f4i or possibly street sport bike (not supersport). bikes like SV650 or FZ6, may be 599. most of the taller riders i seen that have mucho experience all have touring bikes.

Thanks guys.. The 600RR is too nice looking to get a f4i. Now dont' get me worng the f4i are nice bikes. but I can put up with a bit of uncomfort to be riding such a beaufitul bike. Actually I really really love the look for the 07 model so maybe I might buy a "less powerfull" one for this summer and buy a 07' model next summer.. Just to get the hang of it... Whichever way, this Forum is awesome for having great information. Thanks for all the advice..

Im about 6'1". the ride is not that uncomfortable. and like someone mentioned above, you will have to get used to that seat, or get a corbin replacement. good luck and ride safe whatever you get!

I am 6'4 and have a F4i. It is fine. I got over the hard seat etc. But my friend has a RR and I ride that fine as well. If I were you I would buy a cheap 400 and beat the hell out of it then go straight to the 1000. You will out grow the 600 in 5 hours of riding. Everyone is gona give me shi* for this but it is just my opinion. (go 1000 just dont be stupid)

If you're that tall, an '07 probally wouldn't be a good choice, just for the simple fact that they lowerd the COG/Bike tremendouslly, and made it more "compact"...yeah, from the crate, it's more powerful, BUT, you can go buy your '06, even an '05 sense they didn't change a thing, add a few mods, and wa la, you'll be "more powerful" than an '07! Also, for the '06, look into getting some adjustable rearsets, that'll help out some.
